Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. - Psalm 62:5
Who is in Year 5?
This year, the year 5 teacher will be Mr Cartledge, he will be supported by Mrs Maitland and Mrs Cannell. Other adults will also work with the children to make sure that each of them achieve their potential.
Our aim this year is to prepare children for year 6 and to spot and develop their potential in all areas of the curriculum, whether it be writing, maths, music or sport. We also look to see the children develop socially as well as academically.
RE
During the Summer term the children will be exploring People of Faith and what happened following Pentecost.
TOPIC
During Summer term, the children will be looking at the Mayas. Who were these people, where did they live, how does thier location differe from Warrington and why did they suddenly disappear? The children will also look at Maya art work and design and make some jewellery and conduct a science experiment with chocolate and water.

What can you do at home?
We would encourage you to read a minimum 4 times a week and a minimum of 10 pages each time with your child, as well as ensuring they complete their TT Rockstars maths homework task. Much of the children's maths work will rely heavily on the children understanding their times tables, so we encourage you to help them to know them off by heart.
Your children will also need help learning their statuatory spellings.
