Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm  chapter 62 verse 5

During Summer term the children will be looking at the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts and how this event turned fearful followers of Jesus into brave preahers.

During Spring term the children will be looking at the Mayas. The children will be researching where the Mays came from and how they were able to create such magnificant settlements. This will also feed into their English writing and they will also produce some writing relating to what they have learned about them. The children will also look at some of the customs, games and inventions they made and how this has influenced our lives today.

Who is in Year 5?

This year the year 5 teacher will be Mr Cartledge, he will be supported by Mrs Coulding and Miss Caunter. Other adults will work with the children to make sure that each of them achieve their potential.

Our aim this year is to prepare children for year 6 and to spot and develop their potential in all areas of the curriculum, whether it be writing, maths, music or sport. We also look to see the children develop socially as well as academically.

What is happening in Year 5?

What can you do at home?

We would encourage you to read at least 3 times a week with your child as well as ensuring they complete their TT Rockstars maths homework task. Much of the children's maths work will rely heavily on the children understanding their times tables, so we encourage you to help them to know them off by heart.

If you would like to contact us regarding your child's progress, please make an appointment with the class teacher by calling the school office or by email using the form on our contact page.
