St. Ann's Year 5 Class Page

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

Psalm 62:5

During the Spring term, the children will be looking at the significant women in the Bible and how God used them in their circumstances. They will also lok at the Jewish festival or Purim in the book of Esther and how it is celebrated today.

During Autumn term, the children will be looking at the topic of the Brazil. The children will be looking at where Brazil is, what its neighbouring countries are and what life is like in Brazil. Who is in Year 5?

This year the year 5 teacher will be Mr Cartledge, he will be supported by Mrs Maitland. Other adults will work with the children to make sure that each of them achieve their potential.

Our aim this year is to prepare children for year 6 and to spot and develop their potential in all areas of the curriculum, whether it be writing, maths, music or sport. We also look to see the children develop socially as well as academically.

What is happening in Year 5?

Find out more about what we are doing by looking at our Learning Guide and Curriculum.

What can you do at home?

We would encourage you to read a minimum 3 times a week and 5-10 pages each time with your child, as well as ensuring they complete their TT Rockstars maths homework task. Much of the children's maths work will rely heavily on the children understanding their times tables, so we encourage you to help them to know them off by heart.

Your children will also need help learning their statuatory spellings.

If you would like to contact us regarding your child's progress, please make an appointment with the class teacher by calling the school office or by email using the form on our contact page.
