Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Who is in Year 4?

The Year 4 teacher is Miss Fairclough. She will be supported by Mrs Swift-Bate.

Year 4 is a busy year group, but it is also very fun and exciting. We will be exploring a range of different topics, as detailed in the termly learning guides which are published on our school website. We are continuing to move the children towards more formal learning and assessment whilst striving to keep a sense of fun and creativity in all that we do. We encourage the children to be more independent and have a real focus in promoting responsibility with their property and their learning.

What is happening in Year 4?

What can you do at home?

In Year 4, reading, spelling and learning times tables remain a high priority. See below for how to be an excellent learner.

Reading at home is essential. Please read a minimum of 3 times a week with an adult and ask them to ask you questions about your book. Some of you will be given a Lexia or Reading Plus account – if you do, make sure you use this regularly at home.

You will be given a new set of spellings to learn every 3-4 weeks. Make sure you spend 5 minutes a day learning these spellings at home.

Times table knowledge is vital to succeed in Maths. In Year 4, children are expected to know all multiplication and division facts for every multiplication table up to 12 x 12 by heart. You are expected to complete at least 6 games of TT Rockstars at home each week but you will also be rewarded for going above expectations. Weekly sessions are set on Friday to be completed by the following Friday.

If you would like to contact us regarding your child's progress, please make an appointment with the class teacher by calling the school office or by email using the form on our contact page.
