 Who is in Year 1?

This year the year 1 teachers will be Mrs Murray and Mrs Howard, they will be supported by Miss Blackwell and Mrs Eyres (Miss Nicholson). Our aims for the year are to ensure that it is an most amazing and exciting year for you all.

Home Learning Challenges

Every Wednesday your child will be sent home a Phonics Home Learning Challenge. Please keep them at home in your Home Learning Folders.

Seesaw - Use your child's home learning code to log into their Seesaw account. 

Google Classroom - Log in with your child's gwstanns email address.

Go-Read - Online Reading Record.

PhonicsPlay - Try out the game 'Dragons Den'. Can you sort the eggs into real and pretend? This will prepare your child for the phonics screening check in the Summer Term. 

PhonicsPlay - Try out the game 'Bruired Treasure'. Can you sort the coins into treasure and rubbish/? This will help prepare your child for the phonics screening check in the Summer Term. 

PhonicsPlay - Try out the game 'Picnic on Pluto'. Can you sort the snacks for the two aliens 'Obb' and 'Bob'? This will help prepare your child for the phonics screening check in the Summer Term. 

Numbots - Can you practise your number knowledge by using the website three times a week. Use the login details that have been sent home with your child. 

 

 

Home Learning 

Reading - Please try and read a few pages four times a night with an adult and discuss what you have read including words that you didn't understand. This also includes practising your sounds and word probes.   

Writing - It is important that you learn to spell the Y1 words by heart.  To help with this, please practise your rainbow spellings three times a week. 

Year 1 Words

Maths -  It is important that you keep practising your number formations and number bonds to five and ten. Please also try and do some counting everyday using numbers to 100. Can you also practise counting in 2's, 5's and 10's . We can't wait to hear your counting sills in class!
